Here’s Everything You Need To Know About The Champions League Quarter Finals

James Fenton

Liverpool’s convincing win over Bayern Munich last night confirmed that four Premier League teams will compete in the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in ten years.

The 3-1 win means that Jurgen Klopp’s Reds will join Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Manchester City in the last eight in what is looking like the most open Champions League in years.

With the likes of PSG and Real Madrid already out, the English sides still face some stern tests in the form of Barcelona and Juventus while Ajax and FC Porto certainly won’t be seen as pushovers. Having said that, the bookmakers have Porto as an outside bet to win the tournament at a price of 75/1. Man City are currently seen as the favourites at 5/2 ahead of Barca and Juve who can both be backed at 7/2. Liverpool are next at 9/2, followed by Man United (10/1), Spurs (16/1) and Ajax (25/1).

All of the competing sides will find out their quarter-final opponents when the draw takes place on Friday at 11am. If you’re one of those lucky workers whose computer screen can’t be seen by your boss, you can watch proceedings unfold via the UEFA website. Sure it’s the Friday before a Bank Holiday weekend, what else would you be doing?

The quarter-final first legs are scheduled to take place on April 9 and 10 with the second legs pencilled in for April 16 and 17.
