Met Éireann issues High Temperature Warning for entire country

Daytime temperatures “in excess of 27 degrees” are forecast in many areas.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow high temperature weather warning for the entire Republic of Ireland.

Valid from 8am on Thursday until 8am on Saturday, the alert states that the country will see “very warm and humid weather” on Thursday and Friday.

This is as daytime temperatures will reach “in excess of 27 degrees” in many areas away from coasts.

Met Éireann has even said that night time temperatures will not fall below 15 degrees.

The Irish meteorological service lists the potential impacts of the high temperatures as “heat stress, uncomfortable sleeping conditions and risk of water-related incidents”.

Weather forecast amid high temperature warning

Thursday:

On Thursday morning, there will be spells of sunshine and scattered showers which will spread northwards over the country.

Some of the showers are likely to be heavy and thundery with the potential for spot flooding.

The afternoon will then bring plenty of warm sunshine and isolated heavy downpours.

Overall, it will be a very warm day with highest temperatures generally ranging from 24 to 27 degrees in a light to moderate southerly breeze.

Friday:

Mist and fog will lift from most areas on Friday morning but may linger in coastal areas.

Again, it will be another very warm day with plenty of autumn sunshine. That said, a few heavy showers or thunderstorms may break out inland during the afternoon and evening.

Maximum temperatures of 24 to 27 degrees are expected in light and variable breezes.

As for Friday night, a lot of mist and fog has been forecasted with well scattered heavy showers or thunderstorms.

Lowest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees in light or variable winds.

Saturday

It is expected to be rather cloudy and misty on Saturday morning with isolated heavy showers.

Sunshine will then develop in many areas during the afternoon but mist or fog may linger in some coastal areas. Further isolated heavy or thundery showers are possible.

Maximum temperatures of 21 to 25 degrees are forecasted in moderate southwest winds.

Saturday night is predicted to be warm and humid with clear spells and scattered heavy showers or thunderstorms.

This is as lowest temperatures range from 15 to 18 degrees.

Sunday

Sunday should see a mix of cloud, sunshine and showers.

Some of the showers are likely to be heavy and thundery with the potential for spot flooding.

Highest temperatures of 19 to 24 degrees in a moderate southwest breeze have been forecasted.
