High temperature warning issued by Met Éireann for the week with predicted highs of 29 degrees

Lynda Keogh

The Leaving Cert Weather arrived a month late, but we’re loving it!

The good news continues, as Met Éireann have predicted that this good weather is set to last until at least Friday. High temperatures of between 24 to 29 degrees are predicted right through to Friday, with a small bit of cloud and some fresh breezes. If you’re along the coast, you will no doubt be thankful for the onshore breezes!

Although we are all enjoying the weather, these unusually high temperatures have now come with an advisory weather warning from the Met Éireann offices.

These high temperatures also come with a high Pollen Count and a high Solar UV Index. Please remember to be sun smart and wear sun screen. Find out more on how to be Sun Smart from the Irish Cancer Society.

For today, Met Éireann;

Plenty of sunshine albeit a little cloudier along south and southwest coasts at times. Some patchy cloud will develop elsewhere too, with a slight chance of a heavy shower in the midlands later. Highest temperatures of 24 to 29 degrees generally, locally reaching higher and slightly cooler along north and east coasts due to a light onshore northeast breeze.

We urge our readers to follow the advice from professionals; when going walking or hiking make sure you are prepared with water and the correct attire, and please ensure you are wearing sunscreen. To learn more about water safety, being firewise and being sun smart, please visit Be Summer Ready.
