HSE CEO predicts one million vaccines will be administered a month by April

Speaking on Newstalk Breakfast this morning, HSE CEO Paul Reid wanted to reassure people that “we have, we are, and continue to make really good progress”.

Commenting that current figures predict things will continue improving as more vaccines arrive into the country, Reid predicts that one million monthly vaccines will be administered monthly by April time.

“We have been getting a supply of around 40,000 and vaccinating them straight away.

“This week gone, as in just yesterday, last week, we’ll have done probably very close to 80,000 and next week, we will be well over 100,000.

“So, we are beginning to see the scaling up and certainly, as we get into April, we are getting to levels of about one million a month – 250,000 a week as we reach into April and May.”

Acknowledging that it’s been a tough year for everybody, Reid said that “a very big scaling up is going to happen”, particularly in quarter two if the volumes are delivered to the extent that we have been committed to.
