Huge Wedding Brawl In Westmeath Broken Up By Gardai Using Pepper Spray And Batons

Sarah

A large fight broke out at a wedding in Westmeath last Wednesday, with more than a dozen Gardai having to intervene with pepper spray and batons to break up the brawl.

The Journal reports that a wedding of about 200 guests in Kinnegad took a turn when guests began assaulting one another with glass bottles and keys.

Local units of the Regional Support Unit (RSU) also attended the scene, and there were “scuffles” when gardai had to use their batons to stop the altercation.

A garda spokesperson confirmed to The Journal that six people were arrested: two males in their late teens, a man and woman in their 20s and a man in his 30s.

They were all later released without charge.
