Irish hockey goalkeeper Ayeisha McFerran has appealed for the return of her World Cup medal, which was stolen from her apartment in the Netherlands last night.

Ayeisha McFerran, who currently plies her trade with SV Kampong in the city of Utrecht, attained the runners-up medal after Ireland lost the 2018 World Cup Final to the Netherlands. Taking to Twitter earlier today, McFerran wrote: ‘Please help!!! Some coward decided to break into my apartment & steal mine & my roommates belongings! Among that was my 2018 World Cup medal which is more valuable than all electronics! I would appreciate any help from the hockey world & Utrecht family in finding my medal.”

As well as taking home a silver medal for her pivotal role in Ireland’s run, Ayeisha was also named goalkeeper of the tournament at the 2018 World Cup. Part of the squad that will be heading to Tokyo for the Olympics, let’s hope her prized possession is found sooner rather than later.
