Finally, a government proposal we can all get behind: two more public holidays in Ireland.
Oh yes my friends, since Ireland is getting itself back on track economically and we have the third fewest public holidays in Europe, it’s been suggested that we as a nation get a few more days off work.
Sinn Féin has suggested April 24 as an annual celebration of “the Irish men and women who fought to establish an independent Irish Republic”, while the Green Party has called for a date in February to celebrate one of Ireland’s most important saints: St Brigid.
Perhaps making all those crosses will finally pay off.
But what do you think of these proposed holidays? Give us your thoughts in the comments.
