If you’re just waking up on this sunny Saturday morning you probably haven’t heard that Ireland defeated Japan 52-22 this morning.
Three Keith Earls tries helped Ireland overcome the 2019 World Cup hosts in what will be a confidence-boosting victory as the two countries will face off again at the global tournament in two years time.
Dan Leavy and Jack Conan also contributed two tries each with Gary Ringrose completed the rout.
Ulsterman Paddy Jackson kicked 13 points with Rory Scannell putting over an additional conversion.
Japan didn’t make it easy though, nabbing three tries of their own. The two sides will meet again next Saturday when Joe Schmidt will be looking for a repeat of today’s superb performance.
