Ireland’s Four Potential Play-Off Opponents Have Been Confirmed

James Fenton

After a memorable result and performance against Wales last night as well as a whole lot of permutations to figure out, tonight’s World Cup Qualifiers have confirmed who Ireland could face in a two-legged play-off in November.

Martin O’Neill’s men will come up against one of:

Croatia

Denmark

Italy

Switzerland

As the Republic seeded alongside Northern Ireland, an all-island derby is not possible. It’s also impossible for either side to draw Sweden or Greece.

Got all that? We find out our opponents next Tuesday at 1pm.
