While Leonardo DiCaprio may have rocked it, it turns out that Irish men aren’t too keen on the ol’ ‘Dad Bod’ figure.
The number of men seeking cosmetic surgery treatment is on the rise in Ireland as enquiries for male breast reductions grew by almost a quarter over the past year according to private healthcare search engine, WhatClinic.com.
Although eyelid surgery is the biggest worldwide trend for men at the mo (gotta get rid of those crows feet yo), Irish men seek treatments for surgeries targeting unwanted fat.
Popular treatments for Irish men include male breast reduction, liposuction as well as facelifts.
The rise of the Moob Job
While ‘dad bod’ poster boy and Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt managed to lose 60lbs in six months, he did it the hard way. Chris hit the gym with a trainer for 4 hours every day.
Others however, have looked for alternative ways to fight the flab, and have turned to surgery as a possible solution.
Gynecomastia or male breast removal is the fourth most popular surgical procedure in Ireland among men. Nicknamed the ‘moob job’, breast reduction surgery combats the condition by removing the fat and glandular tissue from the breast to make the chest area flatter and firmer.
Here’s what’s been the most popular:
· Enquiries for male breast reduction surgeries grew by almost a quarter (23%)
· The number of men in Ireland seeking hair transplant surgery has increased by 12% in the past year
· Men seeking facelifts to combat the signs of aging have increased by more than 17%
Would you ever get surgery if you had a bit of a dad bod?
