The Minister for Transport, Shane Ross, voted against his own drink-driving bill on Thursday afternoon.

The accident in the Dáil was eventually corrected and the Bill that he originally motioned was passed.

The next stage of the bill will be the law-making process.

According to The Irish Independent, a total of 85 TDs voted in favour of Road Traffic (Amendment) Bill 2017, eight were against the bill and 37 abstained from voting.

The Bill sees drivers who are found with an alcohol limit of between 50-80mg per 100ml banned for three-months off the road.
