Irish People Are Cringing At This Tweet By Ronan O’Gara’s New Team

James Fenton

Yesterday, it was confirmed that former Ireland rugby international Ronan O’Gara would be taking up a new coaching role with Crusaders in New Zealand.

The former out-half, who is Ireland’s record points scorer with a tally of 1,083, had been working with Racing 92 in France but will take up his new role on January 1 2018.

As is the norm in the social media age, the Christchurch-based club took to Twitter to welcome their new recruit but their choice of wording has left a lot of people cringing in this part of the world.

Top o’ the mornin’ to ya lads!

The tweet was met with emotions from amusement to anger with some people merely rolling their eyes and others calling the club out for stereotyping…
