Irish Rail Release Statement Regarding Travelling Arrangements For Weekend

Darragh Berry

UPDATE 20.19 FRIDAY: Irish Rail confirm services will not resume until 12pm Saturday.

Irish Rail services came to a complete halt on Friday as Storm Emma hit the country hard.

However, it looks as though trains will be back operating tomorrow in some fashion following a statement from the company.

In a statement on their website, Irish Rail said that: “Services will resume from approx 9am tomorrow, subject to alterations and some delays. Full details of services operating will be posted on the website at 5pm this evening (Friday).”

So it’s worth keeping an eye out on the Irish Rail website for an update at that time this evening.

If you have purchased a ticket online, Irish Rail has put a plan into place and applys customers who have booked travel from Wednesday 28th February to Saturday 3rd March inclusive:

  • Surcharges will not apply if you transfer to a different train for your date of travel – this includes Low Fare, Semi-Flex and Fully Flex tickets
  • You can cancel your booking prior to planned travel without charge or penalty – this includes Low Fare, Semi-Flex and Fully Flex tickets.
  • In order to get a refund, please refer to the section below for the ticket(s) you have purchased for the trip you wish to cancel:

Good news for those of you who need to get somewhere tomorrow, things seem to be finally getting back on track.
