With water at a premium during the heatwave, people are being advised to flush the toilet only when it’s absolutely necessary.
The advice is among a series of tips provided by Irish Water to help us save water during the crisis. People are being asked to ‘let the yellow mellow’, which basically means that if it’s only ‘uimhir a h’aon’ it might be worth leaving it be for a while. Uimhir a dhó, we’ll presume, means ‘it must go.’
Other tips include turning off the taps while brushing your teeth and only using the washing machine with full loads. More information can be found here.
