Kate Middleton and Prince William hire Irish social media whiz

Darragh Murphy

Irish social media whiz, David Watkins, has been hired by Kate Middleton and Prince William to look after their online presence.

It has been reported by People.com that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have enlisted the help of David Watkins as their new digital communications lead.

Watkins, who previously worked for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, confirmed the change on his LinkedIn page last week.

Dublin’s Watkins has been credited as playing a major role in growing Harry and Meghan’s social media following over the past year.

Watkins, a graduate of St Andrew’s College in Booterstown, moved from Team Sussex to Team Cambridge after Harry and Meghan left their Royal duties last month, moving Stateside and signing off their official Instagram account on March 30.

Those who follow Prince William and Kate Middleton will likely have already noticed a slight change to their Instagram strategy since April 1, when Watkins is said to have started work with the pair.

More personal posts have appeared on the @KensingtonRoyal account in recent days, with Watkins said to have been behind the below IGTV post on Thursday.
