A Kildare gastropub has temporarily closed its kitchen, to protect its staff from working during the ongoing heatwave.

33 South Main, on Naas’s main street has announced the temporary closure of its kitchen due to high weather temperatures.

Taking to Instagram a representative from 33 South Main announced the news that the kitchen would be closed on July 18 and 19th.

“Not a lot of people know this but even in normal outside temperatures the kitchen can get as high as 30+ degrees,” the post reads, “it is only fair with the weather warning that we close our kitchen”.

Adding that the temperatures could climb to “40+ degrees it would get to inside the kitchen”.

The spot will still operate as a pub serving everything from coffee, beer, cocktails, wines, spirits and soft drinks but there will be “no food offering in this extreme weather”.

Customers won’t starve however as there will be a ready supply of peanuts and crisps available.

The response to the temporary kitchen closure has been met with a positive response, with one customer writing underneath the post “that’s so good of yee”.
