Leaving Cert reported to be going ahead, primary schools to reopen from March 1st

The full plans for the new exam options are expected to be announced on Tuesday.

The Irish Independent are reporting that the Leaving Certificate will be going ahead this year.

Additionally, primary schools are set to begin a phased reopening, beginning Monday, March 1.

Government sources have told the Irish Independent that Leaving Certificate students will be offered a choice of calculated grades or a written examination, or a mixture of both.

Currently, Leaving Certificate students are expected to begin a phased return to mainstream classes from Monday, February 22.

Following that, primary school students should expect to begin their phased return from Monday, March 1, with the rest of secondary school students expected to begin their return following that date.

Government is expected to announce the full plans for the phased return, as well as the updated exam options, on Tuesday, February 16.
