Big news for Limerick today. Huge.

Green Party TD Brian Leddin has taken to Twitter to announce some very exciting news for Limerick. A new train station is coming to Moyross, which hopes to stimulate investment, jobs, and growth in Moyross.

Leddin said this in his tweet:

“Big, big news for Limerick today. A new train station is to be built at Moyross. It be the first of a network of new stations to be built in the coming years. I worked very hard to achieve this and am delighted it is happening now.”

He went on to thank the Green Party and Eamon Ryan for the part they played in the new network.

In the accompanying video clip, Leddin says that Limerick is a metropolitan city that’s expanded to a population of 150,000 people, and to see a sustainable form of transport coming is a hugely positive step.

According to Leddin, this is just the first of many new train stations to be built in Ireland in the coming years.

Leddin acknowledged Tim O’Malley, former Limerick Minister, for his role in the new station coming to Moyross. He said,

“I want to acknowledge the role of Limerick’s former Minister, Tim O’Malley. Tim and I chatted after the general election about infrastructure for Limerick and he told me he had tried to get this going about 20 years ago. It made sense to me so I pursued it vigorously since.”

People sounded off in response to this news, congratulating Leddin and asking for more information. Ledding expects this to be finished in three years or less. He also said the journey between the Colbert Station and Moyross station would be less than nine minutes.
