Major Changes To Irish Speeding Fines Proposed

James Fenton

Speeding fines in Ireland may soon depend on the salary of the motorist if new road safety proposals are passed.

According to the Irish Independent, high earners would have to pay more for breaking the limit with the possibility of a €1,000 for someone on €50,000 a year.

A spokesman for the Road Safety Authority confirmed the proposals and that they will be submitted to the Department of Transport as soon as possible.
