We Irish bloody love talking about the weather, don’t we? And there’s nothing better than when we hear a storm is on the horizon. That little tidbit of information alone could keep us going for quite some time. First, there’s the storm build-up, then there are the live updates, shortly followed by the post-storm debrief. Plenty of conversation fodder.
Making sure we won’t be short of things to talk about this year, Met Éireann has just released the full list of storm names for 2020/21 and it sounds like Storm Aiden will be the first to pop his head up this winter.
Compiled in collaboration with the UK Met Office and the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI), the three national meteorological services worked together to put the list of names together based on suggestions from the public.
Other names to feature on the list include Bella, Tobias and Veronica. Along with a few more unusual choices such as Heulwen (pronounced Hail-wen), Evert (pronounced Eh-vert) and Fleur.
