Met Éireann warn of heavy rainfall and risk of flooding this week

weather warning

Looks like we’ve got a wet and windy December ahead of us.

So, when it comes to weather, we’ve got some good news and some bad news.

Good news first: it definitely won’t be as cold as it has been in the past few days.

Temperatures are generally remaining around 7 to 10 degrees during the day, and even expected to get to as high as 12 degrees by the end of the week, and likely won’t be dropping below 3 to 6 degrees any night during the week.

And now, the bad news: it is going to rain. Quite a bit.

Specifically, this Tuesday, which will start off pleasant enough, especially in the north and east of the country, before some strong winds push some heavy rain clouds from the south and west up through most of Ireland.

Then, along comes Tuesday night, described by the Irish meteorological service as follows:

“A wet and windy night. A low pressure system will move up from the south over the country bringing strong and gusty winds with gales on southern and eastern coasts along with heavy rainfall throughout the country bringing a risk of coastal and surface flooding. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees will occur early in the night.”

There is more heavy rain expected on Friday, but the rest of the week until then will see a mix of dry and drizzly weather.
