A dog that was stolen in Cork in June 2020 has been returned to its owners after being located in the UK.
In a time when the next wave of bad news never seems to be too far away, we’ll take all the positive stories we can get. This one, which was shared by the Gardaí on social media last night, definitely falls into that category.
Ruby, a springer spaniel, was taken from her home in Midleton, Co. Cork in June 2020, leading to an appeal on the Garda Southern Region Facebook page that was viewed over 100,000 times. An eagle-eyed woman in the UK spotted the story and made contact to say that she had seen Ruby was up for sale on a website. Gardaí liaised with Somerset Police and, sure enough, Ruby was recovered and made the journey home to Midleton in time for Christmas in what can be largely described as a modern festive miracle.
Ruby was stolen from her home in Cork in June, 2020. She was located in the UK and is back where she belongs. Full story see https://t.co/5xUCnbCqFw pic.twitter.com/zjOVlyc7QJ

The investigation into the theft of Ruby is ongoing but for now, the most important thing is that she’s home.

It just goes to show that people who get the mick taken out of them for sharing stories of missing dogs in faraway lands might just be on to something. Welcome home, Ruby.
