Newstalk Has Confirmed That George Hook Will Return To Their Station With New Show

Darragh Berry

Newstalk has confirmed in a statement that George Hook will be returning to their radio station after a four-month absence.

The radio station released their new line-up schedule for 2018 and announced that: “George Hook returns to the airwaves from this Saturday, 6th January, with his new feature-led show ‘Hook’s Saturday Sit-In’, that will involve interviews, reviews and regular items on travel, music and US politics.”

George Hook previously presented a weekday programme on Newstalk (now hosted by Ciara Kelly) but was suspended in September 2017.

The suspension came following comments he made about rape on his show the week previous.

The 76-year-old caused uproar by seeming to imply that victims of rape were partly to blame for the crime.

Hook’s new weekly show will run from 8am until 10am every Saturday.
