Numbers Of People Signing On For The Dole At Its Lowest Since 2008

Sarah

Employment seems to be on the rise across Ireland, as according to latest figures released today by theĀ CSO, the amount of people registered for Jobseeker’s Allowance in February 2017 is the lowest number recorded since November 2008.

At the end of February, there were 117,048 people who were claiming long term, over 40% fewer than the peak crisis number of 201,513 in August 2012.

The numbers of people signing on to the Live Register has also fallen 2,800 compared with the figures from January.

The Live Register is used to provide a monthly series of the numbers of people (with some exceptions) registering for Jobseekers Benefit or Jobseekers Allowance in Ireland.

Let’s hope those numbers continue to decrease – brilliant news.
