A good chunk of the Irish population has been issued the EU Digital Covid Certs, either via email or by being sent a letter.

More than 1.3 million emails and letters containing the EU Digital Covid Certificate have been issued to people who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19. According to the Minister of State for eGovernment, Ossian Smyth, 984,000 emails and 350,000 physical letters have been sent out.

The Government’s goal is to have 1.8 million issued by Monday, July 19.

People are also being encouraged to check their spam folders in their emails. Meanwhile, Revenue aims to send between 50,000-70,000 letters per day.

It is reported that 7,500 emails containing the certificates have “bounced”, meaning that there is a failure rate of 0.7%.

Minister Smyth said, “when you have a database of emails and more than 99% of them are delivering, that’s an incredibly high-quality data set.
