Patrick Kielty shares his salary for hosting the Late Late Show

The new host of the Late Late Show had reached out to RTE seeking to make his salary public.

Patrick Kielty, the new host of the Late Late Show, has revealed his salary for hosting the iconic RTÉ chat show. The release of the figures comes the day after Kielty himself made it known to the state broadcaster that he wished for his salary to be made public. Set against the backdrop of the hidden payments scandal engulfing RTÉ following revelations made about former host Ryan Tubridy's undisclosed salary, Kielty has made the decision to be transparent with the Irish public. In a statement released to the press this afternoon, the County Down native stated that;

"I’m pleased to finally be able to share that I’ve signed a three season deal to host The Late Late Show beginning this September. I’m being paid €250,000 per 30 show season. If additional shows are requested by RTE, they’ll be paid on a pro-rata basis."

Disclosing an additional payment he is set to receive, the comedian added;

"I’m also receiving a one-off payment of €20,000 to cover the pre-production and rehearsals from now to September."

Opting to remain living in London whilst hosting the show, Kielty's statement revealed that he will also incur the cost of travel to and from Dublin;

"The contract allows me to submit flight and accommodation expenses, but I’ve waived this. I’ve made it clear to RTÉ that I will be covering my own flights and accommodation costs. "I’ve also asked RTÉ to carbon offset my flights. I genuinely hope this helps clarify things going forward. I can’t wait to get started."
