Rumours of an online shop have been swirling for quite some time, but the Penneys bigwigs have spoken... and no such thing is in the works.
When will Penneys reopen? It was the question on most Irish people's lips during the first lockdown, and it's the same one many are asking this time around as well. Forced to close in accordance with current level five restrictions, it was thought that an online shop would help matters some but it doesn't sound like that's going to happen anytime soon.
Speaking to the
Irish Mirror, a spokesperson for the chain said that, despite continued calls from customers, there are "no immediate plans" to launch an online service.
"Although we will look at alternative business models from time to time, there are no immediate plans to trade online."
Commenting that products are showcased on social media and on the company website, customers are encouraged to keep up to date with things there.
