PICS: An Post Has Released Two New Stamps To Mark Pope Francis’ Visit

Jen

Hello, this is a friendly service announcement to remind you we’ve gone back to 1979 as An Post releases two stamps to mark the visit of Pope Francis next month.

The demand is expected to be so strong that postal service ordered a print run of 500,000 (€1) stamps, carrying an image of Pope Francis with a dove taking flight and over 100,000 (€1.50 international) stamps, which feature a family walking together on a beach.

According to the Irish Examiner, all 500,00 tickets for the Pope’s visit to Dublin and the 45,000 tickets for Knock are now sold out.

The Pope’s visit and World Meeting of Families will bring attendees from across the globe to Dublin.

The meeting has been hit with controversy recently as LGBT group, We are Church Ireland, claims their application for a stand in the RDS was ignored.

Will you be buying one of the stamps?
