Up to a dozen homes in Limerick city were flooded overnight on Saturday following a burst water mains.
According to the Limerick Leader, several units of Limerick Fire Brigade were called upon to aid shocked and horrified residents in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Houses in the Kilmallock Road area were flooded in up to two and three feet of water.
The incident occurred around 2:30am that morning, with officials helping locals until about 6:45am.
In a statement, Irish Water said it was carrying out repairs to a burst water mains in the area.
Supply has now been restored and all customers have been made safe.
Both Irish Water and Limerick City and County Councils have apologised profusely following the incident.
