A man trying to avoid being arrested by the police was spotted by an onlooker who took a picture of him trying to hide on the roof of a house.

Etmond Lika, 32, ran from police in Kirkdale, Liverpool after they raided his house following a tip off that he may have a cannabis farm in his house.

Police found more than six rooms in the house to be growing cannabis, with over 200 plants in the property.

After searching in the 32-year-old’s house they discovered evidence proving that there was another occupant in the house.

In a desperate attempt to avoid the authorities Lika panicked and hid on the roof of the property but was eventually captured.

Lika was charged, arrested and sentenced to two years and four months in prison after pleading guilty to one count of beign concerned in the production of cannabis at Liverpool Crown Court.

Christopher Hopkins, prosecuting, was told that the cannabis farm was discovered by a locksmith after he was called to change the locks on the front door of the house.

He said: “The locksmith noticed what he thought was a cannabis installation at the property and called the police.

“He thought someone was inside.

“Lika had been employed by somebody to manage or run this installation whether that was tending to the plants or whatever else was required.”

The 32-year-old explained that he moved to the UK after leaving Albania for financial reasons and paid €5,000 to travel to the country by boat however the prosecutor said that “the Crown frankly knows nothing else about this defendant.”

Judge Brian Cummings KC said: “You entered this country illegally, little or nothing is known about you.

“I note what was said in the case summary by reference to your police interview, and I quote: ‘It was difficult to get an answer out of him, he continuously changed his account throughout the interview”.
