Anyone fancy a few réamhdheochanna before hitting the town?

The first new Irish-English dictionary in 50 years has been published online this afternoon and it contains a pile of new words and phrases that have only begun to claim prominence As Bearla in recent years.

The dictionary, found at Focloir.ie contains over 3.5 million words in English and Irish and among the new entries are:

  • Selfie: Féinín
  • Mindfulness: Aireachas
  • Emoticon: Straoiseog
  • Pre-drinks: Réamhdheochanna
  • Filter: Scagaire
  • Gangland crime: Coireanna drongchoirpeachta

An maith leat mo féinín? Níl aon scagaire.
