Renewing Your Passport Just Got Way Cheaper, Faster and Easier

In a very welcome move, the Irish Passport Office is introducing an expanded service – vastly improving the speed and efficiency of passport renewals.

The update means that Irish citizens can now renew their passports 24/7, seven days a week, from anywhere in the world.

The service is also now €5 cheaper at €75 a pop, and applicants will need a digital photograph and email address.

Applications to renew a child’s passport can also be made online. You can also apply for passport cards for both adults and children.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has said the passports will be issued in around ten working days.

Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney said the success of the online renewal service was recognised at the recent CX Impact Awards, where it won the ‘Impact in Digital’ award.

“It is important that the Passport Service continues to use technology in order to gain efficiencies and deliver the best possible service to the citizen.”
