Return date for Premier League announced and it’s sooner than expected

Sarah Finnan

Sports fans rejoice as the Premier League is set to return next month, due to hit telly screens on June 17th.

Been missing your weekly football fix? Fret not as it’s been confirmed that the Premier League is due to return to our tellies next month.

The Bundesliga was the first to return earlier this month, marking the first bout of live football in months. Like most other leagues around the world, the German top division went on hiatus back in March due to Covid-19 but it was the first major European league to return to action.

Following suit, the Premier League has now confirmed its return is imminent, also announcing the first two fixtures. Aston Villa will take on Sheffield United while Manchester City will play against Arsenal – levelling the playing field and bringing each team in the league up to the same number of played games. It’s thought that another game, potentially Tottenham Hostpur vs Manchester United could take place on Friday, June 19th.

No further details have been revealed as of yet. More to follow.
