Santa is already on his way – Here’s how to track his movements over Ireland

James Fenton

Santa will begin his journey around the world at 10am Irish time and the NORAD Santa tracker will help you and your family follow his journey.

Before stopping off in Ireland later tonight, Santa will deliver presents to children in faraway lands such as Australia, Japan and the Philippines. With Covid-19 travel restrictions in place, Irish children can rest assured that the red man is an essential worker and will be allowed into the country, as confirmed by Dublin Airport earlier this week.

To keep an eye on his movements, you can follow the NORAD Tracks Santa on Twitter. NORAD is organised by the North American Aerospace Defense Command and has been following St. Nick’s Christmas Eve movements since 1955. It regularly updates its Twitter feed throughout Christmas Eve and also has a live feed where visitors can see exactly what Santa is up to at any given moment. You can keep up with Santa and his reindeer by following the NORAD Santa tracker at this link.

Meanwhile, Santa himself has confirmed that he will be setting off at 10am GMT…

It looks like he’s been getting plenty of practice in and the Gardaí even spotted him doing some final checks over Tipperary yesterday…

We should expect Santa to arrive in Ireland some time after midnight so all the boys and girls should probably make sure they’re tucked up in bed by then. Don’t forget to leave some treats!
