Gardaí Investigating Second Alleged Sexual Assault By Same Three Men

Darragh Berry

Gardaí are currently investigating whether two separate incidents in different parts of the country were carried out by the same group of men.

The first incident, in Carlow took place at the start of the month in the early hours of June 4.

A young woman was approached by three men and was allegedly sexually assaulted in the Bagenalstown area and Gardaí confirmed that an investigation is still underway.

However, The Irish Independent has reported that a similar incident took place in Kildare on June 12 where an Irish woman was the victim of a sexual assault attack by three men where one of the men allegedly raped her.

The woman had been out socialising and was returning home when the attack took place, she did manage to alert a nearby house who then raised the alarm.

Investigations are now taking place for both incidents and Gardaí could neither confirm or deny whether the attacks were related or conducted by the same group of men but were investigating.

They are urging anyone with anyone information to contact them at Naas Garda Station on 045 884300, Bagenalstown Garda Station on 059 774120, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
