Michael Conlon Went Peak Irish At Last Night’s Boxing- And Everyone LOVED It

Sarah

Unless you’ve been living under a rock (or been downing so much beer yesterday you can’t function this morning), you’ll probably be aware that our very own Michael Conlon made his professional boxing debut last night in New York – and he absolutely nailed it.

Conlon recorded a third-round stoppage over American Tim Ibarra, flying through the first two rounds like the champ he is, with the referee having to put an end to the fight as Ibarra tired on the ropes.

The boxer entered the ring in the most Irish way EVER, legit fully dressed as a leprechaun with Conor McGregor by his side wrapped in a huge tricolour, and the crowd went insaaaaane.

A few Republican tuuunes and the crowd chanting ‘Olé Olé Olé Olé’, we can only imagine how amazing the atmosphere was.

McGregor could be heard on the fight broadcast shouting encouragement at Conlon and the two of them were only chuffed with the victory.

McGregor said after the win that: “Tonight is Michael Conlan’s night… tonight is St Patrick’s night and the Irish are in town.

“That was beautiful work… he got the win and the win was the most important thing.”

Go on Conlon ya good thing <3
