Ireland and the wider football public was touched on Friday night when Shane Long comforted Séamus Coleman after the latter broke his leg in a horror challenge against Wales.
Wee Séamie was rightly horrified by the collision and Long was on hand to keep an eye on his mate with a little cuddle to let him know everything was going to be okay.
It’s now been revealed that Shane is something of a pro when it comes to this type of thing as his wife has revealed that he used the same techniques during her pregnancy.
Kayleah Long told the Sunday Independent:
“I had a hypnotherapy birth and they taught Shane to help me to breathe through it,
“He told me: ‘It all came back to me. I was just talking to Séamus, teaching him how to breathe through it.’ He remembered it all.
“I asked if Séamus was listening to him and he said, ‘Yes, to be fair, he was. He was really breathing well.”
Despite the long and difficult road to recovery that Coleman now faces, he can count himself lucky that Long was there to help out. Kayleagh also said that Coleman sent Long a text to thank him for his words of comfort.
The Everton star had successful surgery on his leg in Dublin yesterday but it looks like it will be 2018 before we see him in a green jersey again.
