This Irish Rugby Player Has Been Nominated For A Prestigious International Award

Alana Laverty

Ireland’s Jamie Heaslip has been nominated for the World Rugby Player of the Year award, among six others.

The 32-year-old, Ireland vice-captain is up against Dane Coles and Beauden Barrett of the All Blacks and England trio Owen Farrell, Maro Itoje and Billy Vunipola.

And naturally, we’re rooting for our lad.

Jamie was nominated for the award before, in 2009, when Ireland won the Grand slam. If he wins he’ll be the second ever Irish player to win the award.

Huge congrats from all of us Jamie, you’ve done us proud.
