A new study has revealed that eating pasta could be the key to losing weight.
Yes, you read that right – eating beautiful pasta could help you shed some pounds.
Normally, dieters cut down on their intake of carbs, but new research has shown that eating pasta three times a week over a 12 week period can lead to weight loss.
We are definitely down for that.
The study, which was published in the British Medical Journal, showed that participants lost an average of 1.1lb during the study.
Researchers also found that eating pasta over other carb-heavy food is better for you because it prevents spikes in your blood sugar.
It was also discovered that pasta has a lower glycaemic index and is absorbed into the bloodstream slower than other carbohydrates, keeping you fuller for longer.
Commenting on the results, Dr John Sievenpiper said: “The study found that pasta didn’t contribute to weight gain or increase in body fat.
“Contrary to concerns, perhaps pasta can be part of a healthy diet such as a low GI (Glycaemic index) diet.
“In weighing the evidence, we can now say with some confidence that pasta does not have an adverse effect on body weight outcomes when it is consumed as part of a healthy dietary pattern.”
