We were sweating there for a while.
The question on everyone’s lips at this point in time, 12 days out from Christmas Day, is whether Santa will be able to enter Irish airspace – naturally.
This is clearly something on the minds of our country’s leaders as well, with Taoiseach Leo Varadkar taking some time during Leaders’ Questions to address this timely issue.

Varadkar said this of Santa’s journey to Ireland on Christmas Eve:
“I would like to confirm Santa Claus has permission to enter Irish airspace and to cross our borders on December 24th through December 25th. And I want to thank IAA, Department of Agriculture and the Revenue Commissioners for allowing the necessary exemptions to occur.”
So all the children who’ve so diligently put their Christmas lists together need not worry – Santa and his reindeer will be making their annual trip through Ireland to deliver presents obstacle free.
