Those willy straws and matching #LADZONTOUR t-shirts don’t come cheap, we know, but the news that Irish people are spending double on hen and stag parties than they used to is something we can’t wrap our heads around.
The Mirror reports that guests are splashing out a huge average of €300 to have one last wild hurrah with their mates before weeping them down the aisle, an increase of 50% compared to just two years ago.
Why’s this you ask? Are we going mad and buying in the finest champagne?
Well, a survey carried out by HenandStagSligo.ie showed that people are upgrading their party packages, spending more on activities and usually booking two nights away.
The average hen or stag party package costs between €140 to €160, with an extra €100 – €200 spent on glad rags, transport, drinks, and of course: genitalia accessories.
Fergal Quinn, from HenandStagSligo.ie said:
“People used to be more price conscious when looking for hen or stag party ideas but that is changing now.
“Parties are spending more on activities and beauty treatments as well as looking for higher-grade hotels.
“Also, hen and stag parties have changed in recent years as the age profile is generally older and people are looking for activities to do when booking their stag or hen party packages.”
Yikes. A night in Coppers will do me fine, thanks.
