Gardai have warned that a new telephone scam is targeting people who play the Euromillions draw.

In a post to the official An Garda Siochana Facebook page today, a spokesperson said that people were receiving calls from a Dublin number offering free plays of the Euromillions draw.

The post warned that this was a hoax and did not have any connection to the National Lottery, warning people to take caution when it came to protecting their financial details.

“We have been contacted by several people in the last few weeks about such calls. We would like to reassure our players, and members of the public, that this activity has nothing to do with the National Lottery, and we would advise caution.”
