Jack Charlton is being remembered this morning as Irish people young and old pay tribute to the man who led us to our first two World Cups.
It was
announced this morning that former Ireland manager Jack Charlton has passed away at the age of 85. A hugely popular figure, Charlton received the Freedom of Dublin in 1994.
It cannot be underestimated how much of an impact Jack Charlton made on Irish society throughout the 80s and 90s and that mood is reflected in the abundance of tributes that are pouring in this morning....

As well as being viewed as a legendary figure here, English-born Jack is being mourned in his homeland as well where he was part of the World Cup-winning team in 1966.
