Students across Ireland are eagerly awaiting their Leaving Cert results, which come out next month and will reveal what college course they’ve been accepted into – and what ones they haven’t.
CAO has released this years most popular choices, with The Irish Examinerreporting that 2017 sees a few changes.
Demand for science, engineering, and technology degrees have all dropped, with law and health courses gaining popularity.
Arts and business continue to top the charts, and just under 71,600 people are applying for honour degrees this year.

Applications for law degrees have risen by 6.5%, architecture and built environment degrees are up 6% and 4.7% and there’s a 9.7% increase for ‘other healthcare’, which includes courses in speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and nutrition degrees.
Dentistry has increased in popularity by 14%.
