An Irish priest reportedly lambasted his congregation after being disappointed with a low collection during Mass.

According to The Sunday Times, parishioners in the Kerry diocese are asked to contribute €5 a week to run their church and €20 six times a year (€120) towards the priest's living expenses.

However, the priest was unhappy with the amount received in the collection and wasn't shy about making his feelings known.

He wrote to the congregation to say that the donations were "very disappointing", adding "I hope you can do better and support your parish priest”.

Speaking to The Mirror, the priest said that it was private matter "between me and my parishioners" and that he had received a "positive" reaction to his letter.
