The average amount of money Irish couples spend on their weddings has been revealed, so if you’re planning on tying the knot soon, you might want to start saving – fast!
Weddings Online conducted a survey that revealed a wallet-burning €26,015 is the average amount spent on a wedding, including the honeymoon, in Ireland.
The survey, which took place this month, was based on 1,200 participants.

It found that 60% of couples surveyed struggled to stay within their budget, with 13% spending over €5,000 more than planned.
A total of 18% of couples look to take out a loan to help fund their special day and a lucky 22% of couples got financial help from their parents.
Other findings included:
- The average age for brides tying the knot is 31, while the groom’s average age is 33-years-old.
- The hotel venue remains the most popular choice at 67%, followed by the country house at 19% and the castle at 9%.
- The average cost of a honeymoon is €5,261.
- The most popular honeymoon destinations are The Maldives, the USA, Italy, Mexico and Spain.
