Here’s How Much The Average Irish Couple Spends On Their Wedding

The average amount of money Irish couples spend on their weddings has been revealed, so if you’re planning on tying the knot soon, you might want to start saving – fast!

Weddings Online conducted a survey that revealed a wallet-burning €26,015 is the average amount spent on a wedding, including the honeymoon, in Ireland.

The survey, which took place this month, was based on 1,200 participants.

It found that 60% of couples surveyed struggled to stay within their budget, with 13% spending over €5,000 more than planned.

A total of 18% of couples look to take out a loan to help fund their special day and a lucky 22% of couples got financial help from their parents. 

Other findings included: 

  • The average age for brides tying the knot is 31, while the groom’s average age is 33-years-old.
  • The hotel venue remains the most popular choice at 67%, followed by the country house at 19% and the castle at 9%.
  • The average cost of a honeymoon is €5,261.
  • The most popular honeymoon destinations are The Maldives, the USA, Italy, Mexico and Spain.
