One of the most contentious debates to ever take place in the Lovin offices was sparked by someone making a round of tea.
We all have our own way to rustle up the perfect brew and whether you like yours weak and milky or strong and full of sugar, you probably think you have it nailed.
Unfortunately, according to a new study, we’ve been doing it all wrong.
If you reach for the kettle every time you fancy a cuppa, you’re apparently ruining your tea and removing some of the nutritional benefit.
Dr Quan Vuong of the University of Newcastle has said that heating your tea in the microwave is, in fact, the best way to make the most of your drink.
Yep, seriously. In the MICROWAVE.
Dr Vuong found that putting the tea in the microwave for 10 minutes activated 80 per cent of the caffeine, theanine and polyphenol compounds the tea and also resulted in a better taste.
While we’re sure he’s done his research, we’ll be choosing this ignore this sacrilegious advice and stick to our old tried and trusted methods!
