A Kerry pub has vowed to give free pints to any garda who comes into their pub today.

Charlie Foley's Bar decided to make the gesture "as a mark of respect" after hearing that members of the force were going on strike.

It was announced late last night that the strike will be deferred, while the GRA and AGSI ballot their members on a new pay deal.

However, Charlie Foley's has said that it will honour the offer at their premises in Killarney for the rest of the day.
