Two Irish People Dead And One Irish Person Missing As Two Separate Tragedies Strike Abroad

Two separate tragedies have claimed the lives of two Irish people so far as another person remains missing. 

An investigation in Thailand is underway after a young Donegal woman died in a tragic accident after she fell from a hotel balcony while holidaying in Koh Samui. 

Louise Furey was only 27-years-old. 

 

In an unrelated tragedy, a young Irishman from Sligo died on Saturday following a kayaking accident in Ecuador.

Alex McGourty who was 19-years-old died after getting into difficulty following a flash flood and his friend David Higgins, originally from Kerry, is one of three men still missing following the incident.

The group were kayaking in the River Abancio when they got into difficulty. 

The Department of Foreign Affairs said on Sunday night that it was aware of both cases and was providing consular assistance to the men’s families.
