Tributes are being paid to a dad-of-three who sadly passed away following a tragic accident in Cork on Saturday.

David Latten sadly passed away on July 1st while on a camping trip with his family in Cape Clear, which is off the coast of Cork.

The Clonakilty native is believed to have fallen over the cliff after he was attempting to retrieve a ball while playing with his family.

His family became concerned for his wellbeing after he did not return from looking for the ball and a local coast guard at Valencia Island was called to the scene along with emergency services.

A passerby then spotted his body and a Baltimore lifeboat crew retrieved him. He was then brought to their station and was sadly pronounced dead by a local doctor.

Latten’s death notice reads: “Much loved husband of Neasa O’Keeffe, devoted father of Ruadhán, Odhran and Finn.

“Sadly missed by his heartbroken wife, children, mother Ann, and Martyn, father Andrew, and Jacqui, brother Richard, parents-in-law Jim and Meadhbh, sisters-in-law Lynne, Aoibheann, Doireann, Sorcha, Fiadhnait, Almha and Deirbhile, brother-in-law Mícheál, extended family Glen, Kieran, Mick, Tadhg, Niels, Pat, Barbara, Andy, Alex, Hannah, Gemma, Amanda and Helen, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends, and his Logitech work colleagues.”

Tributes have now been paid to the 44-year-old, with one person writing: “We are shocked and deeply saddened. Love and prayers from all your friends at Little Treasures.”

Another said: “David was a great colleague, a lovely man and spoke about his family with deep pride and affection. We will miss him dearly as a work friend, and pray that you will find comfort in the hard days ahead. May he rest in peace.”

A third wrote: “My deepest sympathies to you Neasa, Ruadhán, Odhran, Finn, the O’Keeffe and Latten families. A wide community mourn your terrible loss and you are constantly in my thoughts. Suaimhneas síoraí dá anam séimh dílis.”
